YOUNG ADULT EDUCATION
CHRISTIAN CONFIRMATION
Confirmation is a significant educational process for the maturing of an individual’s faith in our one true God. It is an important transitional step from the parents’ baptismal promises to an individual’s personal commitment of faith. The confirmational process usually occurs during the child’s teenage years. These Christian teachings foster a deeper understanding of Christian beliefs, scripture and the responsibilities of being a member of the church. The spiritual growth for the individual by means of the Holy Spirit can be life changing.
The Biblical foundation for Christian faith is put forth by studying the Scriptures, the Creeds, the Commandments, the Sacraments and prayer. The individual’s faith and scriptural understanding will be guided by an understanding of Luther’s Catechism. The confirmed individual will be formally celebrated by a ceremony--which includes family, friends and the church community--and now has support to navigate life in an increasingly complex world.
